In an effort to minimize the amount of "Drag racing is gay" posts, I like it, I had a blast, if you don't like it, don't respond to my post, Thanks. So after about 800 Miles on my new southbend DxD clutch, I decided to enter an event called U.M.T.R. or United Manual Transmission Racers. There is two classes, a pro shift and a street stick. I entered the street stick with a total field of 44 cars, about 38 of which were mustangs, fox body to current production. My profile is up to date so look there for my other mods. With everything I have been reading, I thought I could get my car in the high twelves. So I threw 3 gallons of VP racing fuel in it and off I go to my first time trial. First time trial I drove it fairly easy, launched at about 3600rpm, shifted normal, no power shifting, cranked off a 13.30 at 106.78 mph. HELL yeah! This thing will be in the 12's in no time. Came back with a huge grin ready to go to the next time trial. Let the car cool between runs for about 45 minutes, go back and try again, this time power shifting 1-2 at 7000, 2-3 at 6800, 3-4 at 6600. Car felt great, clean pass. I get my timeslip. I dropped half a second. 13.77. WTF? Come to find out, I developed a boost leak and was only getting about 11-11.5 psi at full boost. Well I checked and tightened all the hoses I could get to without removing the front bumper/ jacking the car up/ getting 3rd degree burns all over me from the ridiculous amount of heat these engines hold, and still didn't find the leak. So I make one more time run, a little easier on the shifting since I'm now not trying to get the best time possible out of it today, and ran somewhere about the same 13.7X. The event starts, I dial a 13.65 and to make a long story short I went through 4 rounds of eliminations. Made it to the final round of eliminations and lost to a mustang that pulled an .001 r/t. and ran a 12.70 something. He had a by the next round semi final and redlighted in the final. All in all i had a blast. Overall came in 6th place out of a field of 44, and put 3 mustangs and a cobalt on the trailer. Next time I will shoot for my 12 second pass. Thanks for reading. -Adam
